Evaluation Extention: Audiense Feedback

We asked our classmates to give us feedback on what they thought was succuesful and unsuccuesful, once we got this feedback we then went back and edited and inproved our film by changing the fount style and size and colour and our main title.

Thursday 1 March 2012

Evaluation Question 7: Looking back at your Preliminary task what have you learnt in the progression form it into the full product?

We have made a shot Video doctrementry recording our thought on what we have learnt

Evaluation Question 6: What have you learnt about Technology from creating this media product?

This is a prezi to show what what tech we used in creating this film and what we have learnt.

Evaluation Question 5: How did you attract/ Address your audience?

We 'Tagged' our film on youtube to annotate this.

Evaulation Question 4: Who would be the audidense for your media product?

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
TASK: Create your perfect audience member, give them a background, a picture, a ‘tribe’ www.uktribes.com and www.findyourtribe.com, what music do they listen to, what TV do they watch, what films would they go and see? (Use the post from earlier in your planning, but this time discuss how you have attracted them in your finished film).

This would be a style of our audidense member, Our Perfect audience member would be a young adult; this is because our film is quiet edgy and Morden semi inspired by skins which is a contraveral British TV programme about teenagers. I did some research about my target audidense and found out that 25% ‘definitely agree’ that they “watch more TV on my computer these days.” This was higher than the 19% among all 16 to 24s. This means that my marketing of the film when advertising should be directed towards the internet and less towards the television.

This would be the music our audience member would be interested in, semi mainstream with some indie, rock, bass and dance. The T in the park line up was a good mix of these including snow patrol, Twin Atlantic, Jesse J, The enemy and more classic artist such as The stone roses.

Evaulation Question 3: What type of Media insistion might disterbute your media product and why?

Director Commentry

Our film House logo isnt working at the moment so for now there is a red logo that appears in its place. In the next draft it will be removed!

Evaluation Question 2: How does media product represent social groups?

"Effy" from skins is a character that has the look and attitude that we looked for when deciding on how to dress our girl character. As you can see she wears alot of make up and dresses provocativly.

This is how we dressed our girl character, having her outfit and character based on Effys.

This is how we dressed our girl character, having her outfit and character based on Effys.

Evaluation Question 1: In what way does your media product use, develop or challange form and conventions of real media products?

Creat a grid of all your media forms show how they compare to the real media product. This is our grid its show costumes, Titles, Settings, Camera and editing, fount and style, story/narritive, Genre, Charaters and Special effects.

Piont 25 Risk Assement

Risk Assesment

What could go wrong???

We will have to make sure we have definite permission to shoot up in Bruce, otherwise we could be kicked out without getting the footage we wanted, not to forget that we would get in BIG trouble!

When working with heights (eg:high angle shot) must be careful.

Check the surfaces is not slippy
or in any way hazardous to prevent this----->

Make sure the weather conditions are safe to be in when shooting outdoors.

Piont 24 Location Shots

Some Location Shots!

These are some of the locations that you will see in our opening scene. We are shooting in and around the school, as it is very accessible to us, and we do not need to seek further permission. However we are planning to do some filming in Bruce House, which will requir Catriona and I to get permission to do so.

Point 21 Music

Music!

At the moment we are planning on using the a song called Fantastical that we found on Freeplay Music from Rock Grooves Volume 8 however, I think it may be possible that we change the song on a later date if we find one more suited to our film.
I like this one because it starts quite basic but builds up to something interesting, which supports the theme of our film perfectly.

Point 20 and Piont 22

Instead of drawning our storyboard, we felt it would be more affective with pictures. so on the day we are shooting we are going to take photos before each shot then print and present nicely. Due to this these Pionts will Not hit the deadline because shooting takes place after the deadline.

Piont 19: Investigation of Narrative Theories

Narrative Theories
After doing research on narrative theories, this is what i found.
A brief outline of the 4 main narrative theorists; Propp, Todorov, Barthes and Levi-Strauss.
Narrative Theory

I think our film will be a modern combination of all of these narrative theorists showing aspects of each

Piont 18 Story Arc

Breif Story Arc

The classroom

Student and young teacher having a secret love affair
They break up, because the students friend finds out
The friend reports the teacher and he is fired and put in prison
Student and teacher hate each other
Student realises she is pregnant and goes to prison to tell him
They fall back in love
She has the baby, drops the charges against him, and live as a happy family

Point 17: Key Elements

17. Define the key elements you must include in your opening to conform to the expectations of the genre you have chosen, the audience you have chosen and what is expected of a film opening. Make a check list.

• The Name of the film must appear at the beginning of the opening titles

• The writer has to be mentioned.

• The Production Company’s name is to be mentioned.

• The Lead Actors Names

• It should hint at the theme/ Genere of the film.

Point 16: Institutions that might produce, distribute and exhibit our film

Paper Street Films Production company.
Has Produced films such as 'Detached' which is similair genre and theme
Paramount Pictures has prodcued, distributed and exhibit films such as Mean girls. With a large budget this could be useful in creating our film, the only negetive effect is that pararmount pictures is an american production company. Here at Filmhouse Productions we feel strongly about creating a film set in britain with a british sense of humour running through it.
Channel 4 Television Corporation Although this is a Television Company I feel Channel 4 would embrace the contraversionl nature of this film and also the Bristish essence.

Monday 16 January 2012

Point 15: categorieing the audiences

ART HOUSE
This is focused for more up market and older people.

15 PLUS
Our film we are creating is focusing to attract the 15% of the population aged between 15-24. 39% of the cinema is populated by this age braket in this categorie. There is a farily evenly mixed gender but our film is slighty leaning towards the female population. The cinema aduidense has a hugher percent of upper class people this may be because the cinema can be expensive. Our film will be marketing in this aduience categorie because are viewer will be Young and Upmarket.

Piont 12 Mood Board

Point 11 Grease Opening Titles Key Shot Breakdown

Picture One: Danny is getting out of bed, he looks very messy. The use of Mise on scene is used with the props around him are very 'teenage boyish'. His room is scruffy and messy. This is to show the sterotypical boys room. You can tell he is intreseted in music as their is music poster around his room.

Picture Two: THis is when the title of the film is, I felt it was very important to included this to show that is it showen very earlyer on in the opening titles. They are clearly presentanted.

Picture three: This is when danny as a character is introduced officaly. It is his relfect in a mirror. He is smileing this could show that he very happy with his appearance. He comes arcoss as very popular and cool.

Picture Four THis is sandy getting out a bed and is a contrast to what it was like when danny got out of bed. Her room is large and very neat and tidy. she is wearing a blue sleeping dress the tone of colour is still femine without chosing the obviouse pink.

Picture Five : She is sitting by her mirror to get ready in the morning. The Animals surroding her add a fariytale aspect to this shot as if she was snow white. This shows that she is seen as very caring, innocent and beautiful.

Picture six: This is the introduction title of sandy it shows she is also very happy with her appeareance and shows the actress name. There is also some beauty lotion next to her mirror so this shows that she is takes time and care over her appeareance.

Picture Seven: This is the Title for Rizzo. she doesnt look as attravtive as sandy. Her dark hair makes her seem slighty more deceiving than Sandy's innocent looks. she also has beauty products around her mirror showing she too cares how other people preceive her.

Picture Eight: This shows the 'The T bird' they are surounding by clutter as if they where in a car garge or somthing, they also look as if they are praising the guy in the car. they look like his little helper. They are all whereing the same jacket this shows that they are part of a gang or something.

Picture Nine: This is the final picture. It shows the whole main cast in two different cars, one boys and one girls. in frount of their school and the police following them. This shows that there quite rebeliouse but are quite cool.

Piont 10 Full Anaylisis of St Trinian's

Full Textual Analysis of St Trinian’s
Point 10.

I have chosen to analysis St Trinians opening titles as it is closely linked to the Filmhouse Production Company most recent film. The similar aspects included the setting linking with mise en scene because it is set in a school.
There is two parts of this opening title which I find very interesting to compare and analysis together, the first section is an animated and is a pink girlie shot of the title swiping between the names of the production team and lead actors the interesting part of this shot is that amongst the girlie pink there is little doodles of dead people, skulls, red ink which connotes with blood and police. They give the idea that this film is not as innocent and sweet as first thought. The fount used throughout both sections of the opening titles is uneven and scribbly. This symbols childlike rebellion which this film is really about. In the second section of the opening titles is a simple setting of a car driving through country roads to make this interesting they use a variety of different shots including wide pan and tilt.
The mise en scene is used to create character and setting, The classy car drive through beautiful English countryside represents a wealthy sophidecated characters but there is a contrast when the classy car drives past a burning car which looks like something of a American gangster movie. It looks very out of place. The Characters are dressed in vey formal classy cloths there appearance and their social etiquette m makes them seem upper class and rather arrogant. The girl wearing a very prestige school uniform and hair is smarty tied back almost childlike. The way they stand, speak and walk also makes the characters seem as if they posh. The girl looks very spoiled and grumpy because she is not getting want she wants.
The second half of the opening titles is shots of the car driving. This is made it interesting and the stunning location help the establishing shots to have a big impact on the audience. There was high angle, low angle, tilt shots, pan and wide shots used to create this sequence. There is a low angle shot used to shot the building this is used to make it looks big and powerful.

Piont 8 Extened Classic Romantic Comedy Film Traits

There is so many classic traits for a ROMCOM
The sterotypes of teenagers for example the dumb blond cheerleader and the chavvy bullys. There is often a atrative couple but they cant be together due to some wild reason but in the end they end up falling in love and live happyly ever after.

Monday 21 November 2011

Piont 8 The Genre ROMCOM

This is an example of one of the many succusful romcom of the moment.

Piont 7 The Pitch

The Filmhouse Production Company pitched to Mrs Black our idea for our latest release. The idea stems from the genre of Romcom but we have added a controversial twist to what can sometimes be a rather Repeated idea. Our Production Company, made a pitch to Mrs black about our lastest release. This film is aimed at a 16-25 mixed gender aduindense because of this we can afford to be rather controviersal in the topics rasised in this film. The pitch was very succuesful because we cam prepared, understood our target aduidense, was repectful towards Mrs Black and we were orginal in our idea.
